RIA SEN

Trauma-informed Pyshcotherapist

Supporting adults in understanding the patterns shaped by their past, reconnecting with themselves, and creating more conscious
relationships with others.

About me

Hello, I’m Ria Sen, a Psychotherapist based in Bengaluru, Karnataka. I have been in private practice for over seven years and have previously been associated with St. Joseph’s, Cult.fit, and Mt. Litera School. My work as a therapist is deeply informed by both professional training and lived experience. At the age of 19, I entered therapy to address my own childhood trauma. Working with a skilled and attuned therapist helped me rebuild my sense of self, emotional safety, and agency. That experience continues to shape the way I show up for my clients today—with empathy, respect, and a strong emphasis on psychological safety. After completing my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, I pursued further training in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am also a certified Strength & Conditioning Coach. This allows me to work from a holistic, mind–body perspective, recognising the close relationship between psychological wellbeing, the nervous system, and the body.I believe healing is possible. Sometimes it involves processing past experiences, at other times, it requires learning new skills or consciously unlearning patterns that no longer serve us. Therapy, in my view, is not about “fixing” a person, but about helping them reconnect with themselves in a way that feels grounded, sustainable, and authentic.Outside of work, I enjoy working out, spending time with my dog, connecting with friends and reading.Languages I speak & understand: English, Hindi, Bengali

my approach

My work is grounded in a trauma-informed approach. This means understanding that many of our present-day struggles, whether in relationships, emotions, or patterns of behavior, often have roots in earlier life experiences. In therapy, we gently explore these experiences, particularly those from childhood, to understand how they may continue to shape how you relate to yourself and others today.I aim to create a space that feels safe, non-judgmental, and collaborative, where you can explore difficult emotions at a pace that feels manageable. Rather than focusing only on symptoms, we work to understand the deeper patterns beneath them.My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from different therapeutic frameworks depending on what best supports you in the moment. These include: Somatic Therapy, IFS, CBT, NLP & EFT.Through this integrative process, therapy may involve developing new coping skills, understanding long-standing emotional patterns, processing unresolved experiences, and reconnecting with a stronger sense of self.Healing is rarely linear. My role is to walk alongside you in that process, helping you build awareness, resilience, and a deeper understanding of yourself.
